Workshop: Information Literacy @ SMC
Come learn about the new Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education (Association of College and Research Libraries, 2015) and discuss ideas like how authority can be constructed and contextual, that information has value, and in what ways scholarship is a conversation.
This is not your standard "how to use the library databases" session. In this hands-on workshop, attendees will be develop a more nuanced understanding of information literacy, reflect on the threshold concepts students must transcend to do research in your discipline, and generate ideas for creating and assessing research assignments.
Date and Time: Thursday, November 16, 1:15-2:15, SMC Library. Snacks will be provided!
Librarian Gina Kessler Lee, Information Literacy Librarian, will lead the discussion.
This workshop is open to all faculty and staff, and will be of special interest to those who teach Composition or Writing in the Discipline courses, who advise student research or capstone projects, and/or who do research and publishing of their own.
