Library Pick-up

The Library has expanded services during this unprecedented time, providing contactless access to print and media resources for the SMC Community. SMC Library Pickup has fulfilled more than 100 appointments for students, faculty, and staff since service began in August. Library users can access not only the St. Mary’s collection, but also materials borrowed from other libraries through our Link+ and ILLiad interlibrary loan services. Appointments can be made online, and pick up service is available either curbside in the library parking lot or at the front door of the library Monday (10 a.m. - noon) and Thursday (4 p.m. - 6 p.m.).

How does SMC Library Pickup work?

  1. Request a book or DVD
    • For books and DVDs the SMC Library owns: Find it in the Library catalog, click on the title, and click Request at the top of the page.   Step by step video tutorial

    • If the SMC Library doesn't have it: Look it up in the Link+ catalog and click Request It.

    • If it's not in the Library or Link+: Fill out the ILLiad form to request it from another library.

  2. Receive email notification when the item is ready for pickup. (For SMC items, this takes 1-2 business days.  For Link+ items, this takes 6-8 business days).

  3. Make an appointment for pickup through the SMC Library Pickup form. Pickups are available Mondays 10 am - 12 pm and Thursdays 4-6 pm, curbside or walk-up, for faculty, staff, on-campus students, and off-campus students.

  4. Come to the Library at your appointment time. Let Public Safety know you are here for Library Pickup (show your LiveSafe Daily Health Screening). Then call us when you arrive: (925) 631-4229.
