About

This presentation focuses on Dr. Botts-Ward’s work with blackwomxnhealing over the past nine years through narrative-centered reflections on healing work and healing justice.

It will illustrate how culturally-relevant healing modalities can shift the landscape for our collective well-being locally, nationally, and globally.

Dr. Reelaviolette Botts-Ward, is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Medical Anthropology Program at the University of California, San Francisco. She is also the founder and lead curator of blackwomxnhealing, an intergenerational wellness collective that she started in 2015. blackwomxnhealing invites Black women into creativity as a tool to reflect on our individual and collective relationship to selfhood, sisterhood, and spirituality; girlhood, womanhood, and interiority. With particular emphasis on integrative health, blackwomxnhealing expands possibilities for Black women’s wellness, as it centers the ancestral, spiritual, psychological, and somatic healing potential of Black women’s everyday artistry.
