About

Looking for a guided museum experience? Join us for our standard walk-in exhibition tours exploring radical joy in serigraphs by Corita Kent and Lisa Congdon.

Corita Kent (1918-1986), an artist, educator, and advocate for social justice, created her “heroes and sheroes” series between 1968 and 1969. This body of bold, colorful graphic words and images conveys messages of faith, acceptance, and love in response to the political and social upheaval of the decade.

Lisa Congdon’s current body of work, “Hold it Lightly,” explores themes of joy and liberation displayed on printed matter and featuring her bold, colorful illustrations and hand lettering. Exhibited in conversation with Kent’s “heroes and sheroes” series, Condon’s work reflects the profound personal impact of Kent’s legacy.

Our tours of these exhibitions are designed to be interactive and inquiry-based. They are offered on Wednesdays at 11:00 AM and Saturdays at 2:00 PM through December 9. Expect them to range between 20 and 45 minutes. The museum will be closed the week of Thanksgiving, but operations will resume the following week. Admission and tours are free.
