Admissions Requirements

  • Application and $50 fee. Apply online.
  • Statement of objectives and professional goals: Tell us why you’re interested in this program.
  • One official transcript from each college or university attended (unofficial copies may be embedded in your application and will act as placeholders until original transcripts are received). 
  • Scanned copies of all your credentials. You must possess a baccalaureate degree and one of the following valid California Clear Credentials:
    • Designated Subjects Teaching Credential (Single Subject, Multiple Subject, Special Education, etc.)
    • Pupil Personnel Services
    • Health Services
    • Library Media Teacher Services, or
    • Clinical or Rehabilitative Services
  • Proof of:
    • Four years of teaching experience with a clear teaching credential. (Must have five years by the end of the credential program.)
    • Also allowed is five years successful, full-time experience in the fields of pupil personnel, school nurse, teacher librarian, or speech-language pathology or clinical or rehabilitative services in a public school, or a private school of equivalent status, located in California and/or another state.
    • A combination of both prior points. Verification is provided in a letter on district or site/school letterhead signed by the candidate's employer/building administrator. The letter needs to verify term of employment, title, brief description of the position, and whether employed full or part time or the equivalent FTE.
  • Three current letters of recommendation (uploaded to your application directly by your recommenders). Letters of recommendation must be received for your file to be deemed complete and ready for review; however, they DO NOT need to be received by admissions prior to submitting your application.
  • Satisfactory completion of the Basic Skills Requirement (BSR), often satisfied with the CBEST. 
  • A current tuberculosis test clearance report (test taken within last four years).
  • Proof of Insurance and/or the signed waiver (embedded in Application).
  • Interview with the program director (after all documents are submitted).
