Andrew Demcak (MFA class of 1997) is an award-winning American poet and novelist, the author of six poetry collections and seven Young Adult novels. His books have been featured by The American Library Association, Verse Daily, The Lambda Literary Foundation, The Best American Poetry, and Kirkus Reviews. He was a finalist for the prestigious Dorset Prize for Poetry, the Gloria E. Anzaldúa Poetry Prize, and also the Louise Bogan Award for Artistic Merit and Excellence in Poetry. Twelve Heroes, Book 4, the final volume of The Elusive Spark series, will be published in 2022 by Harmony Ink Press. His most recent poetry book, Cryptopedia, was published by Nomadic Press, 2020. About his YA/Teen GLBTQ2-S novel, How Do You Deal with a Dead Girl?
