"Black Panther" Director, Former Gael Ryan Coogler Releases Statement on Chadwick Boseman
Black Panther director and former Gael Ryan Coogler released a statement on Sunday about the passing and legacy of Chadwick Boseman.
"We would often speak about heritage and what it means to be African. When preparing for the film, he would ponder every decision, every choice, not just for how it would reflect on himself, but how those choices could reverberate," Coogler wrote. "But I look back and realize that Chad knew something we all didn’t. He was playing the long game. All while putting in the work."
"It hurts more to know that we can’t have another conversation, or facetime, or text message exchange."
Boseman, who played King T'Challa in Marvel Studios' Black Panther, passed away on Friday following a long battle with colon cancer. He, along with Coogler, was set to return for a second Black Panther movie, originally slated to be released in 2022.
