Cyber Security Message from Peter Greco, CTO
Dear Members of the Saint Mary’s Community,
News about cybercrime and cyber espionage has become all too familiar. Well-funded and highly skilled cyber criminals are increasingly resourceful when launching attacks against individuals, business, government and education in search of sensitive information and intellectual property. The risks these attacks pose to individuals and organizations must not be underestimated.
All of us at Saint Mary’s are affected, both as individuals and as a community. The Information Technology Services security team (ITS) has been hard at work investigating and enhancing the applications and systems that secure our data and protect our privacy, both as individuals and collectively.
Moving forward, all of us will need to take additional steps to protect ourselves, our identities and our information. Your help his essential in maintaining a mindful and safe cyber culture here at SMC.
In order to stay current and aware of potential cyber threats, ITS has developed a Cybersecurity Awareness Training Program. The training takes about 35 minutes to complete, and you will soon be encouraged to enroll. The time you will invest will be of great value, sooner or later.
Thank you in advance for your participation in this important and upcoming initiative.
Sincerely,
Peter Greco
Saint Mary’s College Chief Technology Officer
