KSOE Faculty Profile: Dr. Everett Louis

February 5, 2021

Dr. Everett Louis, PhD (aka Dr. E) is an assistant adjunct professor in the Multiple Subject Teacher Education track at KSOE, where he cherishes the relationships he has made with his students and fellow faculty/staff. He is passionate about K-12 curriculum development and music/art integration, teacher education, and innovative mathematics pedagogy.

Dr. E writes and produces music for kids, educators, parents and caregivers with the goal of bringing people together through laughter and storytelling. His music is influenced by old school hip hop, R&B and bad dad jokes. He is a father of two young girls, so a lot of his inspiration comes from everyday parenting experiences. He also loves the visual arts. His favorite medium is working with recycled materials to build sculptures and installations. Check out his TikTok below of a faux ET he made out of recycled materials for his MSTE 321 course (Supervised Teaching Seminar).

In addition to teaching, parenting and art making (all of which he loves dearly), Dr. E facilitates professional development workshops with the goal of supporting fellow educators in the areas of reflection, community building and self-care using the arts as a vehicle. He also volunteers as Men’s Ministry Leader for Embrace Church in the East Bay.

Dr. E is working on his third music album to be released in the Fall of 2021. The album is a throwback to Hip Hop from the 80s/90s featuring the Roland 808. His goal is to create an album that maintains the grit and authenticity of old school hip hop using kid friendly content and language. He wants kids to experience the joy and power of positive hip hop.
