MFA in Dance Student Samantha Matsumoto's work in ACDA Screen Dance Festival 2022

March 30, 2022

Congratulations to MFA in Dance Student Samantha Matsumoto for her success at the American College Dance Association 2022 Screen Dance Festival. Samantha's piece Am I? I Am will be one of 20 pieces shared in the Gala programming on April 2nd as part of Program B.

Samantha's piece was one of 20 selected out of the 80 submissions. To be selected for the Gala is always a great honor and demonstrates a strong showing in both choreography and performance. Each year Saint Mary's sends pieces to ACDA to be adjudicated and has seen both screen dance and in person works from both graduate and undergraduate students.

Each Spring, Saint Mary's College Dance Company travels to the American College Dance Association annual conference. Often graduate students' works are taken, along with undergraduate work. In the past two years, ACDA has begun to not only adjudicate live pieces, but also works made for film, in their screendance festival national conference. Over the past two years, the graduate program has been successful with student work making it to a gala having one piece in the Western Regional gala 2021 and now the Screen Dance festival in 2022.

Congratulations Samantha!
