Welcome to the new Committee for Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship:EdTech e-news. Each month, we will choose one inspiring faculty member to showcase best practices, creativity, and innovative use of educational technology for teaching, learning, and scholarship.
Hiroko Nakano currently serves as the fearless EdTech Center faculty liaison and Director of Faculty Development. Hiroko took on this new role during the Fall 2016 to supports faculty research and teaching through sabbatical presentations and the promotion of events for faculty such as the SPSS training and writing sessions to support faculty as they develop research and scholarly work.
Hiroko is also a Faculty Tech Camp 2016 alumni. Over the Fall Term she has developed numerous Google Form surveys to use within her psychology courses to reinforcing concepts covered in class and check student understanding of course content. Hiroko reports that while the development of class surveys has been time consuming, it allows her to obtain immediate feedback on how well students understand important concepts. In the future she may try new methods to get feedback from students.
