Summer Wine Festival

July 1, 2008

Enjoy Fine Wine and Support SMC

A casual afternoon of wine tasting and a silent auction will be held on August 10 in the Soda Center.

The Summer Wine Festival, which is sure to sell out, is designed to bring together alumni, friends, family members and neighbors of the College for a beautiful day on campus while talking one-on-one with winemakers. Tickets purchased before July 31 are $35; those purchased in August will be $45. Tickets for designated drivers are $20.

More than 20 wineries will be pouring wines from 2 to 5 p.m. Many of these wineries are affiliated with Saint Mary’s alumni, including Brother Timothy Estates (Michael Mulcahy ’74), Concannon (Jim Concannon ’53), Orsi Papale Estate Wines (Bernie Orsi ’65), Michael Pozzan (Michael Pozzan ’93 EE) and Robert Biale (Holly Jabin ’91).

In addition to tasting wines, participants will be able to purchase wines directly from the wineries, sample hors d’oeuvres and bid on silent auction items. Past auction items have included cruises, vacation home stays, jewelry, day trips, wine tasting and tours, original artwork by SMC alumni, restaurant gift certificates and more. For an updated list of wineries and silent auction items, please check the website, www.stmarys-ca.edu/wine.

If you are affiliated with a winery and would like to pour your wines at the festival or donate items for our silent auction, please call Kathryn Mayerhofer in the Alumni Office at (925) 631-4200.

This event is open to those 21 and older. Tickets can be purchased by calling (925) 631-4200 or online at the Alumni Office website, www.stmarys-ca.edu/wine.
