Welcome to “Perspectives”, my new Presidential Blog!
Since joining Saint Mary’s College in July 2021, I’ve had many opportunities to meet members of our campus community. It’s all of you—our wonderful students, exceptional faculty, dedicated staff, devoted alumni, Christian Brothers, Board of Trustees, and other supporters—who truly embody and personify the spirit of this institution. I can’t serve in my role as President without you.
As we carry forward our work together in this community—nurturing a sense of belonging and support for one another—I understand how important communication is and will continue to be. I speak often about the unique “relational” character of Saint Mary’s and how interpersonal connection is such a critical component of who we are as an institution. As the College president, I want to “walk the talk” and communicate with you as frequently as I can.
With that, I’m delighted to welcome you to my new Presidential Blog—Perspectives.
My intent with this platform is to share with you news, thoughts, and observations on a more consistent basis, and in a more personal way (though you’ll still see my other formal campus messages on occasion). I’ll try to post a new blog item every few weeks throughout the school year. Topics will run the gamut, from campus events and programs to the occasional examination of higher education issues of importance to many of us. I’ll try to keep things relatively short and may even mix in some imagery when I can!
I’ve already got some ideas for the first several blog posts that I look forward to sharing soon. You’re also welcome, of course, to share my blog items of interest with your colleagues, peers, and College supporters.
I’m really excited about this opportunity to communicate with you more frequently in this way. I look forward to sending out my first blog post soon, so be sure to be on the lookout for it via a campus-wide message. See you around campus!
Warmly,
Richard Plumb, Ph.D.
President
