Women's Volleyball Inks Three For 2011
Moraga, CA - Head women's volleyball coach, Rob Browning, is proud to announce the signing of three new recruits for the 2011 season. Dalas Dodd (Manhattan Beach, CA, Mira Costa High School), Konami Yokoyama (Fremont, CA, Washington High School) and Samantha Tinsley (Foothill Ranch, CA, Santa Margarita Catholic High School) join the Gaels' volleyball family, making up the class of 2014.
"The class of 2011 is as strong as any class we have recruited in my six years here," said Browning. "We are proud to welcome Konami, Samantha and Dalas to the SMC Volleyball family. They measure up in every way to the standard of excellence that we have established at Saint Mary's. These girls are great volleyball players, wonderful people and very good students. I fully expect them to maintain the expectations that have been set by all the student-athletes we have recruited before them."

Dalas Dodd comes to Saint Mary's by way of Manhattan Beach, CA where she attended Mira Costa High School. Dodd made a name for herself playing at the club level and on the beach. In 2009, she represented the United States in the Swatch FIVB Youth World Championships in Alanya, Turkey. In 2010, she helped guide her club team, Mizuno Long Beach 17's to a fifth place finish in the 17 Open Division at USAV Junior Nations. In 2009, she helped her club team win Bronze in the 16 Open Division USAV Junior Nationals. Dodd was named to the Senior Aces Top-250 list by PrepVolleyball.com. She placed second in the U-14 Division at the 2007 AAU Junior Beach National Championships.
Head Coach Rob Browning on Dalas: "Dalas will continue a tradition of strong setting that we have had on this team for quite some time now. She knows how to run an offense and has the discipline, skills, and toughness to get our team to even greater heights. Her volleyball IQ is impressive and we will benefit greatly from that."

Konami Yokoyama joins the Gaels after a standout career at Washington High School, in Fremont, CA. Yokoyama was named a Senior Aces Top-150 in her senior year and Top-50 in her junior year. She was named to the Under Armor Girls High School All-American Watch List for the 2010-11 season. In her senior season at Washington she led the team with 495 kills, averaging 4.4 kills per set, while tallying 46 total blocks, with 86 aces, 29 digs and 40 assists. She recorded double-digit kills in 25 matches last season.
Head Coach Rob Browning on Konami: "Konami will have an impact on our net play right away. She is a crafty opposite who likes to hit a very fast set. She sees the block very well and knows how to score points in almost any situation. She will also quickly develop into an intimidating blocker."

Samantha Tinsley joins the Gaels squad after lettering three years at Santa Margarita Catholic High School. While playing for the Eagles she helped guide her team to three-straight league championships from 2007-10. In 2009 she was named the Trinity League MVP, and was a two-time All-Trinity League First Team in 2008 and 2009. Tinsley helped guide her club team, the Laguna Beach 17's, to a 13thst in the same tournament.
