Taking Charge of Your Own Career

Taking Charge of Your Own Career

Everyone talks about the importance of having a career strategy that both supports our learning and development while we’re occupying a position, but also provides opportunities to grow into future roles. Working hard, absorbing knowledge and experience, and staying focused, provides a strong foundation to build on here at Saint Mary's.  But now career experts agree that we as individuals are responsible for our career goals and strategy. This workshop will provide career development tips to help you outline your own career strategy and gain career tools to support current and future professional development.  Participants will:

  • Learn constructive ways to manage your career
  • Use the Career Readiness Quiz to assess where you are now
  • Explore creative ideas for enhancing your skills & developing in your current role
  • Understand the importance of developing your own Individual Development Plan (IDP)
  • Discuss how to initiate meaningful career discussions with your manager
