Frequently Asked Questions
This program will teach you how to recognize the symptoms of PTSD and Complex PTSD, build a framework for engaging with individuals and communities experiencing the impact of traumatic events, and manage your own responses when working with trauma in diverse community settings.
Begin the application for your Trauma Informed Intervention Certificate. The certificate is listed under the Forensics program. Reference our admissions checklist and application deadlines and requirements to ensure it is completed thoroughly. Once your application has been received, you will be contacted by our admissions team.
Candidates interested in the Trauma Informed Intervention Certificate may begin their coursework in Summer, Fall, or Spring term.
Candidates who are already part of the SMC graduate Counseling programs can connect with their faculty advisor to add the Trauma Certificate as part of their courses.

Yes. Applicants are encouraged to provide proof of completion of one college level psychology course.
When are classes held?
Our Trauma Informed Intervention Certificate classes are held online once a week in the evenings on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday from 4:15–7:00pm and 7:15–10:00pm. During the truncated January and Summer Terms, classes may meet 2-3 times per week and evening class times may vary.
