The Art of the Cross

October 6- Through December 16, 2012

The Art of the Cross
presents works by Marc Chagall, Georges Rouault, Bernard Buffet,
Jacques Villon, Otto Dix, and Sadao Watanabe on loan from Christians in
the Visual Arts (, and rarely seen works from the Saint Mary’s
College collection by Tiepolo, Èmile Bernard, Jean Charlot, Salvador
Dali, Lovis Corinth, and Eric Gill.  Among the oldest objects on view are a fifth-century coin from Constantinople and an early fifteenth-century European woodcut.

1 pm - Meet the Artist: Nyame Brown, MFA, “The John
Henry series”- Studio Gallery, free admission

2 PM and 3PM - Slide Lecture: Darwin Marable, Ph.D.,
“2000 Years of the Cross in Art” - Brother Kyran Rm/Art 105 (Repeated
at 3 pm), free admission
