Media Production Certificate

The Media Production certificate is intended to supplement a student's chosen major or minor and is open to undergraduate students interested in media creation for all fields, including - but not limited to - television, film, documentary, internet-based media, and more. Students will take a series of media production courses to gain skills in audiovisual storytelling, including interviewing, event videography, and video and audio editing.

Curriculum

Media Production, Undergraduate Certificate

The Media Production certificate is open to undergraduate students interested in media creation for all fields, including - but not limited to - television, film, documentary, internet-based media, and more. Students will take a series of media production courses to gain skills in audiovisual storytelling, including interviewing, event videography, and video and audio editing. The Certificate’s concluding responsibility is a service internship in which students film and/or edit a series of videos about campus events and programs.

Requirements

  • Students take the following three required courses:
  • Media Production Tools and Techniques (3 units)
  • Video Production (4 units)
  • Audio Production (4 units)
  • And one of:
  • Media Ethics & Ecologies (3 units)
  • Multimedia Writing (3 units)
  • Students may overlap a maximum of one course from Comm 332, Comm 333, or Comm 444 towards both the certificate and another minor of major.
