About
About the exhibits:
heroes & sheroes
Adapting the visual language of pop art in the midst of social and political justice, Kent’s work in heroes and sheroes conveys messages of faith, acceptance, and love supporting civil rights, labor, anti-war movements, nuclear disarmament, and the political assassinations that would define the 1960s.
SMC faculty, Suzanne Schmidt, integrated Corita Kent’s social justice pedagogy through her SMC classes. Read about these experiences in Teaching Corita Part I: “Doing and Making are Acts of Hope” and Part II: “More Than Enough to Work With.”
