Crafternoon: Black-out poetry

Celebrate National Poetry Month by finding the words already hidden on the page! Join us for this week’s Crafternoon where we’ll be diving into the art of Blackout Poetry.

Instead of starting with a blank sheet, you’ll take existing text—from old novels to newspapers—and redact everything except the words that spark a new story. It’s part creative writing, part visual art, and 100% stress-relieving.

Whether you’re a seasoned poet or just want to doodle with a purpose, come hang out and create something unique.

All SMC students, faculty, and staff are welcome. Supplies provided.
