MLK’s phrase “extremists for the cause of justice” may aptly be applied to Antigone, whose heroine defies state power in the name of familial duty. It also describes contemporary groups like Last Generation and Just Stop Oil, which use disruptive tactics to force government action on climate change. Led by a climate justice theatre-maker, this program explores the dilemma of “extremists for a just cause,” who know that their daring provocations will alienate some while spurring others to action.
