Facing the Canon: Women & Violence in Seminar Texts

Seminar Enrichment Series

Part presentation and part discussion, this student-to-student program explores the difficult topics of gender- and power-based violence in Seminar texts, with a specific focus on Homer's The Odyssey and Chinua Achebe's Things Fall Apart. Together we’ll reflect on cultural differences, gender roles, and challenging female characters, asking how students and faculty might respond to these charged depictions in the Seminar classroom.
