About

This year's Cummins Institute Montini Fellow is Brother Robert Schieler, F.S.C., the former Superior General of the Christian Brothers. The Montini Fellowship recognizes someone who has contributed significantly over their professional life to Catholic thought, culture, and action, especially in light of the prophetic witness and writings of Saint Paul VI, who was the pope from 1963 to 1978.

Brother Robert, originally from Pennsylvania, served for many years in the Philippines. He was elected to lead the Brothers worldwide in 2014. He will deliver the Montini Lecture on Thursday, March 23, at 7:30 in Claeys Lounge in the Soda Center on the Saint Mary’s campus. Brother Robert will speak about the Lasallian charism as the Brothers and their partners have tried to honor and practice it for the sake of our students over the past 50+ years. He has gathered his reflections for the sake of the present and future of the Lasallian educational mission.

Brother Robert will be available March 21 through March 24 for individual, class, and informal group visits. To schedule a time with Brother Robert, please contact the campus mission coordinator, Sally Jamison, sjamison@stmarys-ca.edu
