Exhibitions:

Malcolm W. Kenter: Synecdoche

San Francisco-based artist Malcolm W. Kenter constructs architectural paintings that respond to the urban environment and the conflicting aesthetic discourse of the Bay Area’s historical architectural landscape. Framed through the Arts & Crafts pursuit of 19th-century architect and collateral descendant Reverend Joseph Worcester, this exhibition presents Kenter’s work through the lens of craft and meditative care, compiled from the utilitarian components and worn markings of San Francisco’s built architecture and urban symbolism from the 1800s to today.

Fix Your Face: Representations of the Female Gaze

One of two exhibitions curated by students in the Spring Course, CORE 370. Fix Your Face features select works from the permanent collection that reflect the construct of the gaze through art history, in the context of contemporary female subjects and artists. Drawing attention to the act of disrupting and reversing the male gaze, this exhibition explores how female photographers, painters, and printmakers have turned to their mediums to reclaim agency and transform power dynamics.

Choreographies of Calamity: Art Hazelwood and the Media of War

Printmaker and activist Art Hazelwood explores the metaphorical and nonsensical nature of warfare through his art practice. Presenting works from the early 2000’s, including the series Hubris Corpelentus, this exhibition invites visitors to consider the cyclical and puppeted components of the USA’s involvement in 21st-century war. This exhibition is curated by students in the Spring 2026 CORE 370 course.
