About
This summer, the School of Science Summer Research Program convened 20 exceptional Saint Mary's students who worked with over 15 SMC faculty to delve into an expansive range of scholarly topics, spanning star clusters, stem cell research, and the quantification of ‘awe.’ As the director, I am pleased to invite you to attend a colloquium of three-minute lightning talks. During these presentations, each student will concisely articulate their research findings, reflecting the depth and breadth of their academic pursuits. The talks are intended to be understandable by a general non-expert audience. Undergraduates, parents, and those needing some inspiration are particularly encouraged to join. Please join us this Friday for an enlightening session showcasing the innovative work and intellectual growth this collaborative endeavor fosters.
Talks will be three-minute presentations followed by two minutes of audience questions. If everything runs as planned, the event should start shortly before 1:30 p.m. with opening remarks and then 20 student talks, ending at 3:10 p.m., the end of community time. It is likely that the event will go slightly longer, until 3:30 p.m. at the latest.
When: 1:20 -- 3:30 pm
Where: Galileo 201
There will be snacks and nibbles as well.
We want to be respectful of the students who are presenting. If you arrive after the event has started, please do not enter the room until you hear applause. That will signify we have entered the Q&A session or that the speaker is finished.
