In Dawn King’s dystopian courtroom drama, set in a near future devastated by climate change, a jury of teens deliberate, argue, and pass judgments on the adults who failed to act while there was time. The Trials (2022) combines “the spirit of Atwood’s speculative fictions with shades of Lord of the Flies” (The Guardian).
