Professional Overview

Currently teaching in the History Department and directing the Bishop John S. Cummins Institute for Catholic Thought, Culture, and Action.

Research projects:

A study of an eleventh-century chapter book, Vatican City, Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana, Codex Barberinianus latinus 421.

Studies of the activities of medieval chapter rooms.

A chapter on Beneventan necrologies for a Companion to Beneventan Regional Studies, to be published by Brill.

Areas of Expertise

Europeanist specializing in monasteries and the lives of monks in Medieval Italy, including their tradition of hospitality toward strangers.
