THE MOORS Casting Announcement

The Saint Mary’s College Theatre Program is pleased to announce the cast for our Fall 2026 production, The Moors, written by Jen Silverman and directed by Dr. Javier Luis Hurtado. The Moors is a dark, surreal comedy that brilliantly subverts classic 19th-century Gothic literature, drawing inspiration from the works of the Brontë sisters. It explores themes of loneliness, power, and visibility through a bizarre, sometimes violent, but darkly hilarious lens. Performances will take place October 28th to November 1st. 

This talented cast features students from all years and majors, cultivating a diverse on-stage ensemble. Isa Muniz Simunovic (she/her), fourth-year Sociology major, plays the ever-strong Agatha, head of a peculiar household. Her sister, Huldey, who is always lost in her own world, is played by Bruno (he/they), third-year Performance Theatre major and Vocal Music minor. Dana Paulson (she/her), second-year Performance Theatre and Psychology: Neuroscience double-major, portrays the family’s overworked and underappreciated maid, Marjory. The visitor to this household, Emilie, who can never quite figure out what is going on, is played by Ruby Milliken (she/her), first-year Philosophy major and Law minor. First-year Roman Wenzler (he/him) portrays what every proper household needs: a giant dog–the Mastiff. And of course, who is a dog to talk to but the Moorhen, played by third-year Performance Theatre and History double major, Aubrey Bonham (she/her). To round out our ensemble, we also have three incredible understudies covering various roles: second-year Technical Theatre major Kate Barker (she/any) will be understudying for Agatha, Marjory, and the Moorhen; first-year Zoey Elliot (she/her) will be understudying for Huldey and Emilie; and last but not least, third-year Computer Science and Media Production double major Aidan Kiernan (he/him) will be understudying for the Mastiff. 

The Saint Mary’s community does not want to miss the opportunity to see an incredible cast perform this twisted, yet deeply moving production. Prepare to see love and relationships of all different kinds, from sisterly to romantic, and the ways in which they morph and change over time. Audiences are in for a treat with this whirlwind of a production.

E-tickets: $10 SMC students; $15 SMC faculty and staff, non-SMC students; $20 general (plus ticketing fees at the door and online).
