New to SMC's Theatre Program
THE MOORS: Get Your Tickets Now!
One of the benefits of the Saint Mary’s Theatre Program is that we are open to all! That means students who are majors, minors, or otherwise can all participate. Meaning we pretty much always have new students coming in. For our upcoming production, The Moors, written by Jen Silverman and directed by Dr. Javier Hurtado, almost half of the cast is new to performing on the LeFevre Theatre stage! Four out of our nine actors are new to the Theatre Program; that does not mean they are new to performing, but rather that they are sharing their talents with the Saint Mary’s Community for the first time.
For The Moors, we are lucky to have Roman Wenzler (he/him) playing the Mastiff. This is his first year at Saint Mary’s, and he is happy he gets to continue performing after participating in theatre while he was in high school. While he is very skilled at math and coding, we are all hopeful he will continue to pursue theatre and become a major or a minor. If not, we definitely hope to see him on the LeFevre Theatre stage again!
Another performer we are excited to see for the first time is first-year Ruby Milliken (she/her), who is playing Emilie in this production. This show also marks a return to the theatre world for Ruby. She has not been able to do theatre for the last couple of years, so she jumped at the opportunity to audition for this exciting show once she got to Saint Mary’s. We are hoping Ruby will continue to participate in the Theatre Program during her time at Saint Mary’s, despite being busy with her Philosophy major and Law minor.
Joining this incredible team of performers is Zoey Elliott (she/her). Zoey is in her first year, and she is already taking on so much by acting as the understudy for both Emilie and Huldey. It is clear she has been well seasoned by years of performing in high school, and is taking this opportunity to continue to hone her craft. We are so excited to have her involved in the Theatre Program and cannot wait to see what she does next!
Last but certainly not least, we have fourth-year Isa Muniz Simunovic (she/her) as Agatha. As with a couple of other people, this is a return to the stage for Isa after a hiatus. She has been kept busy with her Sociology major and Biology minor, but we are so glad she made time to be a part of this production. Her talent and poise are incredible, and we wish we could see her in more shows before she graduates this spring.
We truly can not say it enough, but we are so happy to have all these new faces on the LeFevre Theatre stage. With so many talented performers and creatives, The Moors is sure to be a real treat. Do not miss your chance to see it October 28th through November 1st!
