by Written by Jeremy Field (MA '21) | August 21, 2020

Eric found his time, training, and interactions at SMC invaluable. As he states "SMC and the graduate kinesiology program were life-changing. The faculty, the ongoing support, and their mentorship were intellectually rewarding. From coursework in marketing, law, sport management, and sports psychology, professors deliver lectures with world-class expertise in their specific area, which I will always be grateful for."

He also underlines that they have furnished a solid foundation for the work and education he is providing in his current position, "SWB, my career, and line of work is a dynamic sports-for-social impact working environment. Without the academic and practical formation from SMC, I wouldn’t be able to perform with high standards daily. Additionally, SMC prepared me for higher education, and as a current doctoral scholar, faculty from SMC have stayed as lifelong mentors."

In addition, he specifically highlights one of his instructors at SMC, Dr. Mark Nagel, who teaches KINES 320: Administration of Kinesiology which covers topics such as sports marketing, advertising and sponsorship. "In particular, Dr. Mark Nagel continues to be an influential figure in my life, and without a doubt, SMC is even stronger with him as a faculty member and adviser."
