Brother Jerome West Leadership Council
The Board of Trustees provides policy oversight and fiduciary responsibility for Saint Mary’s College. This dedicated and talented volunteer leadership group has hired our presidents, approved major capital spending projects, and made personal contributions and fundraised. The College salutes all of the volunteers who have served on the Board of Trustees since its inception.
The Advancement Office of Saint Mary’s has created the Brother Jerome West (BJW) Leadership Council to recognize a select cohort of former trustees who have expressed an interest in maintaining close ties to Saint Mary’s through leadership philanthropy and selective engagement with the Office of the President and the Board of Trustees.
The six founding members of the BJW Leadership Council are:
- Peter Bedford
- Sal Gutierrez '65
- Nick Moore '63
- Tom O’Donnell '60
- Bernie Orsi '65
- George Schmitt '65
As founding members of the Brother Jerome West Leadership Council, they will act as mentors and advisors to the Board of Trustees and the president. They will also convene as a Council to explore College priorities, leverage personal and professional networks, and make a philanthropic investment in Saint Mary’s.
Trustees are often an organization’s most passionate advocates, trusted advisors, and most generous donors. They are captains of industry and represent the values and mission of the College.
"Saint Mary’s is greatly appreciative of the continued leadership demonstrated by this dedicated group following their official Board of Trustee terms. Their example of commitment and philanthropic investment in the College is inspirational to all who support our goal to become the leading Catholic comprehensive university in the west,” said President James Donahue.
