THE LATE WEDDING opens on Oct. 29 at 8pm in LeFevre Theatre. It runs for one weekend only. For many involved in the show, this is a "first" at Saint Mary's College. For example, five of the nine cast members are first year students. So, this is their first time performing on Saint Mary's LeFevre Theatre stage. It has been a great experience for them to feel like they belong to a close-knit community during their first few months at college. Although actor Rose Wong is an MFA in Creative Writing candidate, it is her first time performing at Saint Mary's College, too. It's been a challenge to balance graduate work as well as nightly rehearsals, but she's figuring out how to fit it all in. Since this is an ensemble cast, all actors were called for almost every rehearsal.

Assistant Stage Manager Kenny Rosenblum (also a first year) came to Saint Mary's with a passion for Technical Theatre, and is simultaneously taking a class on stage management while learning how stage management is done at Saint Mary's. Sophomore Aubrey Bonham is co-stage managing for the first time and realizing the amount of time and effort that goes into that role. Even Theatre Professor Javier Luis Hurtado, PhD, is directing at Saint Mary's for the first time with Kathryn Gubler, '20, stepping in as the Production Manager at Saint Mary's for the first time!

So, come on out and support THE LATE WEDDING cast and crew in this bold endeavor. It took the hard work of many people to make this show happen. See the cast, crew, and artistic/production team (as of 10/23) below:

Description:
Christopher Chen's THE LATE WEDDING
directed by Javier Luis Hurtado
Inspired by the writings of Italo Calvino (Invisible Cities and If on a Winter's Night a Traveler), The Late Wedding is a fractured portrait of a fractured marriage, as told through a series of interconnected fables, including an anthropological tour of fantastical tribes and their marital customs. Christopher Chen's winking second-person narrative, delivered by a nine-person shape-shifting cast, deftly guides you on a wild and delightful examination of love and longing. At once an anthropological tour through marriage customs, a spy thriller, and a sci-fi love story, the mind-bending The Late Wedding is an inventive and surprising theatrical experience.
