COVID-19 Update: SMC Adopts New County Guidelines
As Jan Term nears its midway point, new COVID-19 guidance is taking effect on the national, state, and county levels. Saint Mary’s continues to adopt Contra Costa Health Services guidelines when it comes to indoor masking, close contact guidance and isolation protocols. Here are a few updates on COVID-19 procedures and protocols on campus.
- Saint Mary’s has implemented Contra Costa’s latest guidance on isolation period protocols for students and what to do if you are a close contact with someone who tests positive for COVID-19.
- When should you get tested and what kind of test should you get? Contra Costa Health Services provides direction on the latest testing guidelines. Note that if you have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 90 days, you should take an antigen test rather than a PCR test.
- If you test positive for COVID-19 or do not feel well, report your positive test to the SMC COVID-19 Online Portal, and stay home.
- Booster shots remain one of the most effective ways to stay protected and are highly recommended. To schedule a COVID-19 vaccine appointment or booster shot, visit the state’s MyTurn app or website. You may also schedule an appointment through Contra Costa Health Services by visiting its online portal or calling 1-833-829-2626. Local pharmacies like CVS and Walgreens also offer booster shot appointments.
