Unforgettable, entertaining performances by SMC Student groups were the order of the night as teams took the stage to compete for the title of best in Lip Sync and DJ Mix at De La Salle Lawn on Friday, October 9. Funded by the enhancement fee, this high-energy event showcased creativity, musical talents, and performance skills—all while students represented various clubs, teams, and organizations at their best.

For the DJ showcase, students were invited students to blend songs and styles. Luke Davis ’29, representing Cross Country/Track, got the audience energized by opening the event up with his series of mixed beats. Ben Jolly ’28, representing Men’s Rugby, also took the stage for the DJ Showcase and garnered the trophy for his top-notch blend of a magical mashup with unexpected twists.

The Lip Sync category was filled with a variety of acts, from the Middle Eastern North African Club to Fencing Club to Men’s Volleyball. Groups had the option to provide a mixed file with multiple songs or just one tune—but a minimum of two minutes of performance was required. Four judges looked for accuracy, creativity, choreography, and unity.

The judges had a tough job deciding which group delivered a performance worthy of the top three prizes. With a performance from Happenin’ in Manhattan, the Fencing Club, led by Stephanie Boustani ’29, impressed the judges most and earned first place. Women’s Club Soccer took second, and the Middle Eastern North African Club took third.

The night was a lively mix of music, movement, and creativity—paired with competition and good food. The question on everyone’s lips at the end of the night: Can we do this again next semester?
