Gael Way - Celebrating Megan Gallagher

Gallagher provides students important support

by Student Life | October 13, 2026

The Division of Student Life celebrates staff who go the "Gael Way," recognizing individuals who make a difference by being Bold, Curious, Community Focused, Justice Driven, or Passionate. Nominated by fellow staff, we celebrate the many staff who are making a big difference on campus & go above-and-beyond in paving the GAEL WAY!

Megan Gallagher is this month's Gael Way award recipient! As Director of CARE and Wellness Initiatives, Gallagher works to bring wellness initiatives to campus while also individually supporting students who have experienced violence in their life. Her nomination from a fellow staff member, in the area of justice-driven, partly read, "Megan has advocated for students in a way that ensures their safety and that they are heard, including navigating difficult conversations...Megan makes sure the student is the priority." In providing this nomination, Gallagher was lauded for her efforts in supporting students as they navigate challenging systems both internally and outside of Saint Mary's. Her individualized support places the student at the center of her work. Gallagher is a confidential resource for students within the Campus Assault, Resource, & Education (CARE) office and helps oversee the SCAAR peer coalition and works hand-in-hand with students experiencing trauma. This justice-centered work provide key advocacy for students!

Well done, Megan, and thank you for paving the Gael Way!
