Bay Area technical theater artist Kathryn Gubler, SMC '20, returns to Saint Mary's as production manager for this fall's production, "The Late Wedding" by SF Playwright Christopher Chen.
Gubler has worked in many roles including stage management, production management, and lighting design. They currently work full time at American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco as Assistant Production manager and have also enjoyed working at Shotgun Players ( Berkeley) and SF Playhouse ( San Francisco). They are excited to once again return to their alma mater, Saint Mary's College of California. Previously Gubler was the lighting designer for the incredible production of A Midsummer Night's Dream directed by Graham Smith.
Gubler says, "Returning to SMC has felt like one of the best homecomings. It is amazing how much things can change in 5 years after graduating. Though my time in the theater program was tragically cut short due to the pandemic of 2020, I have found immense joy in getting to come back and work with all of my professors in this new role. The students are incredible and open to learning everything. For me, getting to work with them feels like giving back to the community that helped me build my theater career. I hope to be exactly like the folks who taught me, and set all the students up for success in their academic and professional careers."
