Oui! Oui! Come to the Instrumental Concert!
Thursday, May 1, at 7:30 PM in the Chapel
Please join us for the FREE Instrumental Music Gala Concert on Thursday, May 1, at 7:30pm in the SMC Chapel.
This year, we’re bringing the magic of French music to the stage, featuring works by legendary composers like Erik Satie, Gilles Chabenat, Jean-Philippe Rameau, Yann Tiersen, and Gabriel Fauré—all beautifully arranged by our talented resident arranger, Sam Reider.
Music Program Director, Dr. Sixto F. Montesinos Jr., says:
It's with pride and excitement that I share with you the accomplishments of our students this semester. What sets our instrumental program at Saint Mary’s apart is its unique approach: each semester, the instrumentation in our ensembles—be it our concert ensemble or chamber players—evolves and transforms, allowing us to collaborate with the remarkable arranger, Sam Reider, to craft music tailored specifically for us.
Moreover, this evening marks a truly special occasion as we unveil the world premiere of "Meditation No. 3 (Saint Anne)" by the esteemed Mexican composer, Nubia Jaime Donjuan.
Saint Mary’s holds a unique place where we embrace our students as they are, with music serving as the heart of our philosophy.
At the concert, our exceptional seniors will be honored: Nick Kaye, Sara Karkal, Desiree Sturrock, and Anna Metkowski.
Prof. Lino Rivera will also be accompanying the students in many of the pieces, and has directed the Chamber Players all year long.
Don’t miss this enchanting night filled with breathtaking melodies and musical brilliance. Invite your friends and family and let’s celebrate together!
