Former Saint Mary's men's basketball star and current San Antonio Spurs guard Patty Mills announced he will donate the remainder of his NBA contract this season to Black Lives Matter Australia, Black Deaths in Custody, and the #WeGotYou campaign, which is aimed at ending racism within sports in Australia.

In a video he posted to social media on July 8, Mills said, "I'm playing in Orlando because I don't want to leave any money on the table that could be going directly to Black communities."

The NBA is set to restart its season in Orlando on July 30 and Mills will make $1,017,818.54 for the final eight games of the season.

Mills, who has long championed the cause of underserved communities, launched his own foundation in May. The Team Mills Foundation is dedicated to supporting diversity, women, the underprivileged, and the environment.
