Ratification of CBA
A message from the Provost
I am pleased to announce the ratification of the fourth collective bargaining agreement (CBA) with the union representing adjunct faculty at Saint Mary’s. The new contract is effective July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2029.
The agreement provides updated wage and benefit commitments that are consistent with the College’s compensation philosophy for faculty and staff.
The new four-year contract includes clarification in terms of units, reflecting the College’s transition to the Carnegie unit for undergraduate courses. The agreement provides improvements in many areas, including a new appointment tier to recognize long-term faculty members, regular hourly rates related to Special Compensation, and increases to annual course assignments and Collegiate Seminar assignments.
We will release the full text of the new CBA as soon as it is assembled and prepared for distribution, and will continue to share details and provide training and resources regarding the new changes to the campus community.
Throughout the negotiation process I have been impressed by the professionalism, collegiality, and tireless dedication of all involved. Saint Mary’s is fortunate to have a remarkable faculty, and this agreement enables us to continue to act on our shared commitment to providing a transformative education to our students in the Lasallian tradition of the Christian Brothers.
Sincerely,
Carol Ann Gittens, PhD
Acting Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost
