Saint Mary's Inaugural Pre-Med/Health Fair: A Thriving Success for Students and Professionals

I’m thrilled to share that 90+ undergraduate students attended our inaugural Pre-Health Fair on October 30th, marking a significant milestone in our efforts to provide students with valuable networking opportunities in the healthcare field. The event was a huge success, bringing together top graduate schools, accomplished alumni, and prominent healthcare companies for an evening of insightful conversations and career exploration.

Feedback from the graduate schools and alumni was overwhelmingly positive. They noted that our students came well-prepared, fully engaged, and asked thoughtful, insightful questions. In fact, many of the attendees took the time to visit every table, showing a clear commitment to learning about the diverse opportunities in healthcare! This level of enthusiasm and professionalism was especially appreciated by the representatives and speakers.

Another standout was the professionalism of our students. Many attendees were dressed appropriately for the event, demonstrating their seriousness about their future careers in health and medicine. This attention to detail not only impressed the professionals but also helped foster an atmosphere of mutual respect and career-minded focus.

The event offered a range of opportunities for students: they interacted with admissions representatives from top medical, dental, and health schools, received advice from alumni who shared their journeys in various healthcare professions, and connected with healthcare companies that provided insight into career paths outside of traditional clinical roles.

The alumni mixer was a particularly popular feature, where students were able to speak directly with graduates about their experiences, ask questions about the realities of medical school, residency, and working in specialized fields, and even gain insights on how to stand out in applications. The healthcare companies also provided a broader perspective on the variety of roles available in the healthcare sector, from research and administration to technology and innovation.

The success of our first Pre-Health Fair has set a high standard for future events.
