SEBA Establishes the Jim and Kay Guyette Professorship in Responsible Leadership
The School of Economics and Business Administration (SEBA) recently received a generous gift from Jim and Kay Guyette to establish an endowed professorship in responsible leadership. The gift will enable SEBA undergraduates with great leadership potential to gain a hands-on, meaningful learning experience that advances their skills and capabilities in responsible leadership through a leadership fellows program.
“The world requires wise, experienced and responsible leaders in every facet of society,” Guyette said. “What better place than Saint Mary’s to identify and develop them?”
The endowment will support one SEBA faculty member who will oversee a leadership fellows program that will provide a rich, customized learning experience for Saint Mary’s students. Service-learning opportunities, events that make successful leaders and executives available to students, and leadership roles in SEBA student activities will all be facets of the new program.
Dean Zhan Li said that this new professorship will support "SEBA’s mission and strategic foci: to deliver a high-quality education incorporating global and responsible perspectives, captured by SEBA’s motto, Think Globally. Lead Responsibly.”
Jim Guyette, a 1967 alumnus of Saint Mary's and a member of the College's Board of Regents, is president and chief executive officer of Rolls-Royce North America, Inc. His wife, Kay, is a strong SMC supporter and a philanthropist to several nonprofit and charitable organizations.
