Senior Spotlight: Sarah Day '22

by SMC College Communications Staff | May 11, 2022

Sarah Day '22 is graduating with a BA in Politics and a double minor in Law & Society and English. Sarah shares about her supporters, her favorite SMC memories, and what's next after Commencement.

What clubs and organizations did you belong to at SMC?

While at Saint Mary’s, I was a part of Gael Sisterhood, GaelForce, the Law Club, the Honors Program, and the Campus Activities Board (CAB). I joined CAB as the First-Year Intern, fell in love, and returned the next three years as the Director! I’ve loved getting involved with the school and meeting so many amazing people through these different clubs and organizations! I am so proud of everything CAB has done, and I cannot wait to see how they will continue growing and planning events.

Who are your greatest supporters?

I have an amazing support system that I am so grateful for. First, my mom, dad, and brother have supported me in ways I could never articulate! My friends and roommates (Hailey, Taylor, Paulina, Jasmin, and Sophie) have been constant sources of encouragement, support, and love; they’ve helped me keep a good head on my shoulders over the years. My CAB Advisor, Cesar Ramos, and my CAB teams throughout the years have encouraged me to be confident and helped me make fun events and programs around campus; I am forever appreciative for their constant help and support. My professors constantly pushed me to be the better version of myself, as both a student and a person, especially Professor Patrizia Longo. She is an amazing example of the kind of person I hope to be. I’ve learned so much from my classmates, and I’ve always felt the love and support of my Saint Mary’s community.

What is your favorite SMC memory?

My favorite memories are those where the entire community is involved. I love basketball game days (especially the Gonzaga tailgate), sitting by the fountain and doing my homework, going to Round Up with my classmates, taking Graduation photos with my friends, and creating all of the CAB events with my amazing teams over the years. There is no specific event that comes to mind because I love and cherish all of the times I was surrounded by my friends and classmates: having a good time, laughing at everything, and enjoying each other’s presence.

What's next for you?

After Commencement, I will immediately start working for the Telluride Film Festival (based in Berkeley) as the Guest Relations and Logistics Support. In this role, I will work with the Guest Relations and Logistics Manager and Executive Director to coordinate festival attendance, plan year-round events for the festival, and help in any other ways I can! I am super excited to work for Telluride, and I cannot wait to start this!
