Spotlight on Staff: Julie Crowder
How long have you been at Saint Mary's?
I have been with Saint Mary’s about a year and a half.
Tell us a little about your job.
I work in Student Disability Services as the Access Coordinator. SDS helps facilitate accommodations for undergraduate and graduate students in the academic setting as well as other on campus settings. I also create accessible forms of course textbooks and materials to better suit the needs of students who require alternative formats.
What do you enjoy the most or find most rewarding about your job?
The students are the best part, I thoroughly enjoy meeting with them every day. I am often inspired by their strength, determination, and resiliency. Working with different members across the SMC community also makes each day different and unique.
What do you enjoy most about the SMC community and campus?
The small, inviting, and close-knit community is wonderful. Students have strong and personal connections with their professors that most campus environments wouldn’t foster. Staff and faculty are more than supportive when needed, which makes for a resource rich campus. I also love the campus itself. The surrounding hills and hiking make for a beautiful location. It’s hard to believe we get to work on such a lovely campus.
Outside of work, is there anything you'd like to share about your interests, hobbies, family, or volunteer work?
My family and I enjoy spending vacation time during summers in Montana. I have been going since I was 6 years old. I hope to continue this tradition with my own family one day. I consider myself to be an avid traveler and explorer, when time permits! I also hold a soft spot in my heart for animals of all kinds.
What would you like the SMC community to know about you?
I enjoy making new friends, come by and say hello!
