St. Mary's College Launches Personal Pronoun Designation in GaelXpress & Moodle

November 6, 2020

As Saint Mary’s continues to strive to be an inclusive environment for students, we are excited to announce the launch of personal pronoun designation on course rosters and in the Moodle platform. Students will have the opportunity to designate their personal pronoun by using this form, which is located on the Registrar’s webpage. After submission, student pronoun(s) will appear on faculty course rosters (GaelXpress 2.0) and several places in Moodle, including student profiles, discussion boards, etc.

At this time, the following options are available for pronouns: He (he/him), She (she/her), They (they/them), Ze (ze/hir), and Name (Use my name as a pronoun). We encourage you to use these pronouns when conversing with or about another student, in written forums, and class discussions.

Thank you to Information Technology Services, the Office of the Registrar, and Pride (the LGBTQ+ student organization) for assisting in moving this important initiative forward.

Questions about designating your pronoun may be directed to Dr. Mike Hoffshire, mdh10@stmarys-ca.edu.
