Thank you, Veterans

A message to the Saint Mary's Community

by Brother Thomas Jones, FSC, Interim President | November 10, 2023

As we anticipate Homecoming Weekend, we also pause to pay tribute tomorrow to members of our Saint Mary’s College community and others who have served our country and are now military veterans. It is an honor to have military veterans among us as students, faculty, and staff. We take this opportunity to thank them for their service to our country.

Veterans frequently come to our campus with a rich variety of experiences that they share with their professors and fellow students. Their generous service to our country models for us all a commitment to the values of the free and democratic society in which we live. Their self-sacrifice in support of our country is to be acknowledged and admired.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank those who organized so many events this week to honor our veterans, including this morning’s flag-raising ceremony and the Veterans Day BBQ that will follow. It is important that we come together to celebrate those among us who make lasting contributions to our country and our Saint Mary’s College community.

I encourage everyone on campus to reach out to a veteran, offer your thanks, and let them know that they are appreciated.  Thank you, veterans!  We’re so happy you’re here and part of the Saint Mary’s community.

With warm regards,

Brother Thomas Jones, FSC
