The Saint Mary's College Dance Company proudly presents Mosaic, the student-led dance showcase created by 10 senior choreographers from the Class of 2024. This collective dance concert shares in creative exploration through themes of growth, love and loss, connection, society versus individuals, identity, culture and questions about shared experience. As a culmination of their dance studies at Saint Mary’s College, these original student works are exciting, emotional and impactful.

Moraga, CA, October 13, 2023 - The Saint Mary’s College Dance Company is excited to present the compelling performances of this fall’s dance concert, Mosaic. This shared student-led showcase is choreographed, produced, and performed by the Dance Program’s Class of 2024: Caitlynne Bennett, Lou Cooper, Carmen Cortez, Olivia Gutierrez, Sami Kennedy, Kiana Kwong, Isa Madath, Claire Roberts, Emma Stevenson, and Macy Yu.

These emerging choreographers are exploring what it means to assign meaning to movement in collaboration with their fellow dancers and share their ideas with the larger community of SMC. In this production, the students are reflecting on their own personal experiences and growth, cycles of life, love and loss, society and individuals, culture, identity, and expose their questions about shared experience.

“I'm very excited to be supporting these emerging artists in creating and presenting their works with the world. These dances are not to be missed! This show is exciting, bold, entertaining, and beautiful! Each work is thoughtfully composed, emotional, and exciting to experience. All together, it will be an incredible journey for the audience!” Shaunna Vella, Concert Director

The creative team for Mosaic includes: lighting design by Matthew Cohen, costuming by students with Bela Watson, production support by Dance Production Manager Danielle Ferguson, live stream production by David Gaylord, and the Stage Manager Lou Cooper with the technical crew. Each of the dances being presented has redefined the choreographic process, production, and performance while strictly adhering to COVID-19 safety protocols set by the CDC and Saint Mary’s College.
