Vice President for Facilities Services Sarah Speron to Depart Saint Mary’s

by Richard Plumb, PhD | September 16, 2022

Dear Saint Mary’s Community,

Please join me in thanking Sarah Speron, Vice President for Facilities Services, for her incredible service, dedication, and impact she has made addressing our campus’ building and infrastructure safety, security, and accessibility during her nearly four years at Saint Mary’s. Sarah has decided to step down from her post on October 7 as she prioritizes her time spent with family during this important chapter while also pursuing her passion for design and architecture by restoring properties during her spare time.

Under Sarah’s leadership, the Facilities Services Division addressed over 1,800 service requests since the start of summer and addressed aging infrastructure and building maintenance highlighted in the recent Facilities Update message to our campus community. In addition to the successful capital improvement projects, like the recent residence hall modernizations at Mitty, Becket, and More Halls, Sarah spearheaded the ongoing and successful collaboration between Facilities Services and Athletics to enable athletic facility expansions at both UCU Pavilion and the future Brother Ron Gallagher Stadium at Louis Guisto Field.

Over the last two years, Sarah also spearheaded other important projects, including new sidewalks, the installation of new light poles, and ADA-compliant parking spaces at the front of campus. She has been an integral partner with IT Services, Student Life, and Campus Safety, and has laid the groundwork for future projects that will continue to enhance our beautiful campus.

In her remaining time on campus, Sarah will continue her work to ensure a smooth transition and business continuity. In the coming weeks, I will share an update on a search for her replacement as well as an opportunity to celebrate her contributions to our campus community.

I am exceedingly grateful for Sarah’s contributions and wish her the best!

Best regards,

Richard Plumb, PhD
