Mission and Activities 

The mission of the Office of Research is to promote, support, and recognize research, scholarship, and creative activity at Saint Mary’s College. The office facilitates sponsored funding for Saint Mary’s research and programs and fosters an internal environment that promotes research activities. 

Upcoming Fellowship Deadlines

The following fellowships have deadlines beginning August 1 through November:

Fulbright Scholar Program

  • Deadline: September 16, 2019
  • Disciplines: All
  • Eligibility: Faculty scholars who are U.S. citizens 

National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Summer Stipends

  • Deadline for SMC internal nomination (required for tenure-track or tenured faculty: August 23, 2019
  • Deadline to submit application to NEH: September 25, 2019
  • Disciplines: Humanities - see definition at the bottom of NEH "about" page.
  • Eligibliity: U.S. citizens or foreign nationals living in the U.S. for 3 years immediately preceding application deadline. 

American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS)

American Association of University Women (AAUW) Summer/ Short-Term Research Publication Grants

  • Deadline: November 2019
  • Disciplines: All
  • Eligibility: Non-tenured women scholars who are U.S. citizens / permanent residents as of November 2019

Alliance of Artist Communities Master List of Residencies 

  • Deadlines and Eligibility: Requirements are specific to each opportunity
