Body

Saint Mary’s is reaffirming and elevating our liberal arts foundation by bringing together the arts, humanities, social sciences, and sciences as the centerpiece of our Lasallian educational mission. This unification will foster deeper collaboration, highlight distinctive programs, and strengthen faculty excellence—positioning the College for growth and broader recognition.

Saint Mary’s College is unifying the School of Liberal Arts and the School of Science into a single School. This step strengthens our academic identity, addresses national challenges, and positions the College for long-term vitality.

Unification clarifies the true meaning of the liberal arts, showing that they encompass not only the humanities and arts but also the sciences and social sciences. It breaks down silos that separated disciplines, affirming the liberal arts as the educational foundation of the College. It also strengthens enrollment by aligning Saint Mary’s with peers nationwide, offering prospective students a clearer, more compelling academic identity and expanded interdisciplinary opportunities.

This unification preserves our distinctive programs, supports faculty excellence, enhances the student experience, and provides a bold vision for fundraising and growth. It is a proactive investment in Saint Mary’s future, renewing the liberal arts for the decades ahead.

Saint Mary’s, as a Catholic, Lasallian, liberal arts college, educates the whole person and prepares students to meet the world’s greatest challenges. By unifying the Schools of Liberal Arts and Science, we are reaffirming and elevating our liberal arts foundation by bringing together the arts, humanities, social sciences, and sciences as the centerpiece of our Lasallian educational mission. This unification will foster deeper collaboration, highlight distinctive programs, and strengthen faculty excellence—positioning the College for growth and broader recognition.
