Planned Campus-Wide Power Outage

May 26–28, 2026

As part of the final preparations for the installation and activation of lighting at Br. Ronald Gallagher Stadium, the College will conduct a planned campus-wide power outage from Tuesday, May 26 through Thursday, May 28.

Add the campus closure to your calendar

What to Expect

These dates coincide with the start of Summer Break, when many students and faculty will already be away from campus. During this time:

  • Campus will be closed to tours and visitors
  • All non-essential campus buildings will be without power and inaccessible during the outage to help ensure campus safety while electrical work is underway. Additional maintenance, including plumbing work at Dante and Filippi Academic Halls, may also take place.
  • Staff members are asked to work remotely, where possible, May 26–28.
  • Students and other community members remaining on campus are receiving additional communication and specific guidance from Residential Experience.
  • Saint Mary’s Facilities is working with Gael Dining and research areas to ensure that mandatory refrigeration needs are addressed.
  • Staff from Facilities, Information Technology, and Campus Safety who are providing critical support for this work and campus infrastructure will be on campus.

Why the Outage Is Needed

This scheduled outage is necessary to safely complete electrical infrastructure upgrades that will support the new stadium lighting system, enhance the Gael student experience, and strengthen overall campus power capacity.

Important Reminders

Students who plan to leave campus for Summer Break, and other campus community members who will be working remotely, should:

  • Power down and unplug personal electronics before departing.

  • Remove any perishable items from refrigerators.

  • Ensure devices are fully shut down prior to the outage.
